What’s in your tree?

I mentioned before how we got our first real Christmas tree, and I must say I don’t think I’ll ever go faux again. Nothing beats those beautiful limbs and fresh evergreen smell. Okay, except for cleaning up those pesky pine needles. You
lied, Mr. Tree Salesman!

After a cross country move where I foolishly donated most of my
decor, here’s what made it into the tree this year. All of the
pink, red and striped balls came from Old Navy waaaay back when,
maybe 2001? The glass is so thick and they seem so sturdy that I’ve
never been able to part with them. The flocked glitter pine cones
are from Crate&Barrel, the garland was from Target and the
rest are our personals, hoarded over the years.

Northern Cardinal ornament

This is a Northern Cardinal, the state bird of Illinois. Found her on the cheap at Target and it was love at first tweet.

We picked up the NYU ornament on a trip in 2007 and got the kooky
schnauzer nutcracker this year at Navy Pier.

Ah … the obligatory night shot. (With cat and dog looking kinda creepy in the background, of course.)

Quite different from last year’s tree, right? I’ll have more pictures of our decked out home up tomorrow. So sorry to tease, y’all.
