Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio

The weekend was filled with rain and a blizzard, but we managed to taking a walking tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Home and Studio in Oak Park.

Built between 1889-1898, this was Wright’s first home where he lived there for the next 20 years. The home was continually changing and evolving as his family grew (six kids!) and his studio changed. It was filled with the lovely woodwork that seems to be in so many homes in the Chicagoland area and you can really see the very beginning of his style. Wright took advantage of height in this home, with lovely coved ceilings and a children’s playroom that is not to be missed.

If you are in the area, make this is stop. It’s worth the trip to the burbs, as Oak Park is pretty darn charming.
