Gobble, Gobble

So the temps have definitely dipped here in Chicago. Some days we’re in the mid-seventies and other days we’re sitting in the fifties. Since I’m used to it still being near 100+ degrees in Dallas, I’m chilly. A lot.

Naturally I started craving my annual chili, but this time I tried a new turkey chili recipe. It was REALLY good. The best I’ve made, in fact. I used a variation of a three bean chili and slow cooked it, rather than over the stove. Gobble, gobble because the turkey’s here to stay.

Slow Cooker Three Bean Turkey Chili, turkey chili, dwell studio placemats, dwell studio for target placemats

Three Bean Turkey Chili

• One 15-ounce can of diced tomatoes
• One 15-ounce can of tomato sauce
• Three 15-ounce cans of beans, rinsed I used light red kidney, pinto and black.
• One small onion, chopped
• One bell pepper, chopped I used red, but green adds more color.
• One whole jalepeno, chopped
• Minced garlic, to taste
• 1/2 pound ground turkey or more, to taste
• One teaspoon ground cumin
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• Two tablespoons chili powder
• One can chicken broth
• One tablespoon EVVO

Saute onion, bell pepper and garlic in olive oil, until onion is clear. Next, cook ground turkey and drain any fat, if needed. Add sauteed veggies to meat and cook additional minute, mixing all together thoroughly. Then add diced tomatoes and sauce, beans and chili powder, garlic powder, cumin and broth to your slow cooker. Finally add meat mixture and chopped jalapeno, on high for three hours. Garnish to taste.

PS: How fun are these place mats? They are DwellStudio for Target and I’ve had them for over a year. Finally, I have a place to put them in the new abode!
